Renault's Clio II, Kangoo and Master

have always had problems with the immobiliser chip failing.

Inside the remote is a transponder chip fitted to a circuit board which is read by a device fitted around the ignition lock.

We have found that this chip breaks or becomes corrupt. A new key is needed,

which we can supply and program both quicker and cheaper than the local dealership.

Renault Clio Kangoo Master Remotes

There are two different types of this remote key; pre-coded and Virgin.

Both remotes must be bought brand new and unprogrammed before they can be programmed to your car.

Pre-coded was used on pre-facelift Clios (1999-2001), Kangoos (1999-2002) and Masters (1999-2003).

Renault Laguna Key Cards

The key card system is a very unique method of opening and starting a car. There are two types of Renault cards; hands free and non hands free. With the hands free system you can start the car without inserting the card into the dash.

The most common problem with these cards is button failure.

There are lots of places on the internet advertising that they can repair these key cards.

Repairing is fine if you are selling the car soon, if not it can become a false economy

as we have found that shortly after the initial repair they tend to fail.

The failure is not with the repaired buttons but the immobiliser chip inside the card that makes the car start.

This remote requires programming into the vehicle before it will work the central locking and start the vehicle.

This can be done by me as Mobile in London or any local auto-locksmith. Should you require help in locating a local auto-locksmith then please do not hesitate to contact us.

My remote will not work on my Megane/Scenic 1996-1998. Can you help?

Definitely. There are many options to get you moving; sometimes the remote just needs a repair. Bring your remote in and leave with us and we will test and repair it for you where possible. Sometimes the remote is beyond repair, in which case you will require a new one. If this happens, we can order a new key to chassis number for you too. If you just need the car working we can pop out and temporarily disarm the immobiliser system until a new key has been ordered.

My Laguna (02-05) will not lock/unlock the car. Can you help?

The buttons inside the remote have broken off the circuit board. Repairs are available on the internet for around £25 BUT we do not advise this for the following reason; the cards are factory sealed and further problems can occur within a few months of the repair. We recommend a new card; which we can supply and program to your car right away. Please remember the car is needed to supply a new card and program. Prices start from as little as £160 for a 2 button card supplied and coded.

A new card is needed for this problem, as it's usually at fault. If you bring your card into us we can test to see if a signal is being recieved from the transponder chip free of charge. If the card is damaged we can supply a new card and program it to your car right away, unlike the main dealer.

All Renault keys, remotes and cards bought from these websites have usually already been programmed to another car. If so, then unfortunately programming is not possible as some cars require a pre-coded key ordered to chassis number while some cars require a virgin-state key/card before they can be programmed.

Yes we can! If you have both bits of the broken key then your best option for you to pop in to our workshop during opening hours to get a new key cut. If you have the end of the key stuck in a lock on the car then we will need to pop out to you in one of our vans, extract the key from the lock and then cut you a new key.

2. Press the central door locking button for more than 5 seconds. Note: the door should lock then unlock.

3. When this happens, 10 seconds is allowed and the immobiliser warning light illuminates.

4. Point the 1st key at the receiver and press the button twice, the doors should lock and unlock. Repeat for other remotes as required.

5. Check the remote control unlocks and locks the doors.

Hold the remote control button down for longer than 10 seconds (until the red tell-

tale light on the key extinguishes) then press it again 3 times.

Check that the doors lock and unlock correctly.

MEGANE WITH EARLY REMOTE (LED SWITCHES OFF WHEN HOLDING

BUTTON DEPRESSED)

1. Igniton ON

2. Press and hold the central locking button for 5 seconds

3. LED on the dash board will go off, come back on and begin to flash.

The flashes correspond to the first digit of the 4 PIN security code- re-

lease the button when the first digit has been "flashed" and then press

the button again.

4. Wait for the second digit to be "flashed" then release and re-press the

button- continue until all digits have been entered.

5. If you have entered the code correctly the LED will then go out and the

car can be started- to code the remote, switch off the ignition and

press the central locking button again.

6. Press remote button 2 times within the immediate vicinity of the pick

up (in the roof) On some vehicles you may need to switch the ignition

back on to achieve this however.

3. When this happens, 15 seconds is allowed and the immobiliser warning light illuminates.
